Gemma is a fourth generation member of the Jewellery industry. Her great-grandfather migrated from England to Geraldton in 1911, and the family tradition has carried on through to Gemma’s nephew Roy Baker, who is a fifth generation jeweller and watchmaker. Gemma qualified as a Jeweller 2005 and established her own business in 2007. Her father, Leon Baker sold his business in 2010 and is now retired. Custom design is Gemma’s specialty. She employs several sought-after specialty techniques, like incorporating French Knitting, combining all colour golds, mother-of-pearl and titanium into her designs. Gemma’s passion lies with Abrolhos Pearls and Argyle Diamonds and you will find her mainly designing and making women’s rings full of coloured diamonds and coloured stones, also balancing this with coloured gold and appropriate pearls. Outside of the studio, Gemma loves to surf, ride her bicycle, run and generally keep fit. She has two sons: Soren, eight and Jesse, three. Gemma loves to socialise and would like to travel more!
