Nicki teaches English at a local Geraldton secondary school and after 10 years, recently returned to one of her passions, jewellery-making. Co-sharing a space in GBJ’s new workshop, you can find Nicky in the studio creating a new body of work on Saturdays or during school holidays. Nicki has a unique style. Many of her designs resemble seeds, pods and organic objects like flowers. She loves to use 18ct yellow gold and precious and semi-precious stones. Nicki is drawn to our local Abrolhos pearls and these feature in her new pieces, whilst her use of silver is also prominent. As one of GBJ’s ‘Artists in Residence’, Nicki’s latest body of work will be shown in a mini exhibition opening once the collection is complete. After coming to GBJ as a guest artist, Nicki will also collaborate with jewellery artists from around Australia to hold similar types of exhibitions. Outside of the studio, Nicki likes to spend time with her two children. She enjoys gardening and sewing, and even likes to make things out of timber (she made her own jewellery bench). Nicki is a passionate member of the Sun City Christian Centre, where she and Gemma spend time together away from the workshop. You will also find Nicki boogie-boarding at the beach with her children, or walking to work.
